Tips to drink more water ...

If you think you need to be drinking more, here are some tips to increase your fluid intake and reap the benefits of water:
  1. Have a beverage with every snack and meal.
  2. Choose beverages you enjoy; you're likely to drink more liquids if you like the way they taste.
  3. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Their high water content will add to your hydration. About 20% of our fluid intake comes from foods.
  4. Keep a bottle of water with you in your car, at your desk, or in your bag.
  5. Choose beverages that meet your individual needs. If you're watching calories, go for non-caloric beverages or water.

Health Benefits of Oranges !

1. Helps Prevent CancerOranges are rich in citrus limonoids, proven to help fight a number of varieties of cancer including that of the skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon.

2.
Prevents Kidney Diseases
Drinking orange juice regularly prevents kidney diseases and reduces the risk of kidney stones.
Note: drink juice in moderate amounts. The high sugar content of fruit juices can cause tooth decay and the high acid content can wear away enamel if consumed in excess.

3.
Reduces Risk of Liver Cancer
According to two studies in Japan eating mandarin oranges reduces liver cancer. This may be due in part to vitamin A compounds known as carotenoids.

4. Lowers CholesterolSince they’re full of soluble fiber, oranges are helpful in lowering cholesterol.
5. Boosts Heart HealthOranges are full of potassium, an electrolyte mineral is responsible for helping the heart function well. When potassium levels get too low, you may develop an abnormal heart rhythm, known as an arrhythmia.
6. Lowers Risk of Disease
Oranges are full of vitamin C which protects cells by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals cause chronic diseases, like cancer and heart disease.

Try adding oranges to your Infuser Water Bottle, try making Fruity Flavored Water.

Learning Ways To Burn Calories.

5 Ways to Burn Calories.

If you have a desk job, create a habit to get up for at least 15 minutes every hour. Take a walk to the farthest restroom or water cooler, run an errand, take the stairs instead of the elevator or do your filing from a standing rather than seated position.

You can burn extra calories by simply adding some light activity to your TV viewing and relaxation time.  Fold laundry, dust furniture or sweep the floor while you watch television. Not only will the activity boost your caloric expendiutre, but you wileat less in front of the television if your hands are busy.

Burn more calories with the kids.
Teaching your children to increase their daily activity may save them from weight gain in the future. And it will help you, too! If you want to slim down without exercise, find ways to increase your walking time during the day.

Burn more calories with your daily chores.

The next time you go to a party, burn extra calories by becoming more social. Choose to stand or circle the room and talk to as many party goers as possible.

Is it cleaner? Sometimes, sometimes not: in many ways, bottled water is less regulated than tap

Is it tastier? In taste tests across the country, people consistently choose tap over bottled water.

THE STORY OF BOTTLED WATER

kitchen? Bottled water costs about 2000 times more than tap water.
Can you imagine paying 2000 times the price of anything else? How about a $10,000 sandwich? Yet people in the U.S. buy more than half a billion bottles of water every week. That’s enough to circle the globe more than 5 times. How did this come to be? Well it all goes back to how our materials economy works and one of its key drivers which is known as manufactured demand.

If companies want to keep growing, they have to keep selling more and more stuff. In the 1970's giant soft drink companies got worried as their growth projections started to level off.
There’s only so much soda a person can drink. Plus it wouldn’t be long before people began realizing that soda is not that healthy and turned back to drinking tap water.
Well, the companies found their next big idea in a silly designer product that most people laughed at as a passing yuppie fad. Water is free, people said back then, what will they sell us next, air? So how do you get people to buy this fringe product? Simple: You manufacture demand. How do you do that? Well, imagine you’re in charge of a bottled water company.
Since people aren’t lining up to trade their hard earned money for your unnecessary product, you make them feel scared and insecure if they don’t have it. And that’s exactly what the bottled water industry did. One of their first marketing tactics was to scare people about tap water, with ads like Fiji’s Cleveland campaign. They’re trashing the environment all along the product’s life cycle. Exactly how is that environmentally responsible?
The problems start here with extraction and production where oil is used to make water bottles.

Each year, making the plastic water bottles used in the U.S. takes enough oil and energy to fuel a million cars.
All that energy spent to make the bottle even more to ship it around the planet and then we drink it in about 2 minutes? That brings us to the big problem at the other end of the life cycle – disposal.

It’s time we took back the tap.

That starts with making a personal commitment to not buy or drink bottled water unless the water in your community is truly unhealthy. Yes, it takes a bit of foresight to grab a reusable bottle on the way out, but I think we can handle it.  We know better now.

Protect your wallet, protect your health, protect your planet.

TOP 8 Fruits you should be eating ... Or drinking.

Blueberries

Blueberries are rich in antioxidants, which help fight cancer and prevent macular degeneration. Like cranberries, they contain compounds that can protect against urinary tract infections.

Apples

Eat the skin for a high dose of fiber -- both soluble (the type that helps lower cholesterol) and insoluble (it keeps you regular). In addition to meeting 15 percent of your daily fiber needs, an apple is crammed with antioxidants.

Bananas

High in potassium and low in sodium, bananas help lower your risk of high blood pressure and stroke. Bonus: Protease inhibitors that can prevent stomach ulcers.

Red & Purple Grapes

Red wine isn't the only source of resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant that could help fight heart disease. You get nearly as much resveratrol in a cup of dark-colored grapes as you do in a five-ounce glass of merlot.

Kiwis

Ounce for ounce, kiwis contain more than twice as much vitamin C as oranges, plus they may lower the risk of cataracts and could even protect DNA from damage.

Oranges

A single orange gives you almost a full day's vitamin C, plus potassium. The opaque membrane around each wedge has hesperidin, which may lower cholesterol. Even the scent is calming, according to research.

Papayas

These contain papain, a substance that helps improve your digestion. Papayas also provide a lot of vitamin C and are a good source of folate.

Strawberries

A daily handful helps control type 2 diabetes and stave off heart disease and inflammation. Strawberries are also an excellent source of vitamin C and other antioxidants.

"You are what you eat ". You'll start taking it serious ...

You are what you eat, literally.

"What you eat is what you are putting in you body, the saying "You are what you eat" is literally true."
Lisa OzHealth Education

Every one of your cells is replaced in about seven years, and your food is what those new cells are made from. So take a good look at what you have got on your plate. It is about to be a part of you. If you want your body to perform at a peak level, make sure you are giving it good quality material to work with.

How do you feel after you eat? Do you feel strong, comfortable, invigorated, or do you feel bloated, stuffed, queasy, or nauseated? When you wake up in the morning, are you bright, alert, and ready to greet the day, or do you feel sluggish, exhausted, or congested? Answer these questions honestly, and be aware of the ways in which your body is trying to communicate with you about your food choices. If it is not totally happy, change what you are doing.
