Fat Burning Foods: #Fitness

Here are 5 Fat burning food you should know about:

1. Broccoli- my favorite vegetable actually burns more calories being digested in your body than it contains, so everytime you eat brocolli, you are losing weight. Broccoli is also a cancer-fighter, so stock up on this nutritious veggie! I eat broccoli as a food to lose weight every day, with a bit of salt, and sometimes some olive oil (a healthy fat) and maybe a bit of lemon juice sprinkled on. It’s probably the tastiest fat burning food (celery is another fat burning food that burns more calories than it contains, but since I don’t really like the taste it’s not on this recommended list).

2. Lemon- Drink water to lose weight. Ok, no big secret there (drinking water makes your body metabolism work optimally). Want to really kick start your weight loss? Drink water with fresh lemon juice, and you’ll find that even if you don’t diet, you’ll lose weight. Why? It may be because lemon acts as a surfactant (cuts the grease- housewives who clean with natural products such as lemon know this already), but lemon juice washes away fat residue along your digestive tract that was waiting to be digested and incorporated into your body. It’s the best fat detox trick, but it must be fresh lemon juice. Cut open a lemon and squeeze it into each glass of water.

3. Lettuce- Did you know what eating a salad before each meal will not only fill you up so that you don’t pig out on the main meal, but lettuce is another fat burning food- few calories, lots of metabolic burning to get it digested. I love salad, so this one is awesome for me. If you like something tasty in your salad, you can add the next group of foods to lose weight.

4. Grilled chicken and hard-boiled eggs contain protein, which prevents the spikes in blood sugar that lead to hunger pangs. Protein fat burning foods make you feel fuller sooner, are very healthy, necessary to build muscle, are low in fat (one or two eggs is relatively low in fat, even if you eat the yolk, considering how full it makes you feel and all the vitamins and amino acids it contains). A salad with grilled chicken or sliced hard-boiled eggs for lunch is the ultimate lunch food to lose weight.

5. Green tea- of course there was going to be another beverage- being hydrated is important when you are trying to lose weight. Green tea contains catechins (more cancer-fighting antioxidants) that speed up metabolism and fat burning. Green tea tastes great, and has a slew of health benefits- that green tea is a drink to lose weight and tastes good too is a huge plus. When you are out with friends, don’t order a coffee, order a green tea.

Tips to Stay Hydrated During Your Workout

Now, I share to you some ways to prevent mid-workout dehydration. After reading this, you will not forget your water bottle when going to gym. Best way to hydrate is water and fruit.

Drink!
Good old H2O is critical for rehydrating when the body experiences fluid loss, such as when we sweat. Even though many gyms like to keep pricey sports drinks and protein shakes stocked on their shelves, most of the time, water will do the trick just fine. Shoot to sip seven to 10 ounces of fluid every 10 to 20 minutes during exercise to stay properly hydrated. If you’re working out for longer than an hour or doing a particularly intense exercise, you will probably need to replace electrolytes, too — this is where a sports drink or electrolyte-enhanced water comes in handy.

Turn to fruit.
Many fruits are a great source of both electrolytes and fluids, though the dose of electrolytes can differ from fruit to fruit. Bananas and dates are known for having high levels of the electrolyte potassium, making them a great option for refueling during an intense workout (for example, a long run). To stay hydrated while keeping up electrolytes, it’s important to drink water while munching on fruit (fruit contains some water, but not as much as your water bottle).

Weigh yourself.
Hop on the scale before and after exercise. For each pound lost during activity, drink an additional 16 ounces of fluid. If your body weight change is three percent or more, you may be experiencing significant to serious dehydration. Losing a few pounds of body weight after exercise can put strain on the body and result in uncomfortable side effects like muscle cramps, dizziness, and fatigue. To prevent sweating away the water that keeps us hydrated, have a water bottle at the ready.

Pay attention to your muscles.
Lean muscle tissue contains more than 75 percent water, so when the body is short on H2O, muscles are more easily fatigued. "Staying hydrated helps prevent the decline in performance (strength, power, aerobic capacity, anaerobic capacity) during exercise,"Casa says. When your muscles feel too tired to finish a workout, try drinking some water and resting for a bit before getting back at it.

Tame thirst.
Whatever you’re drinking, be it water, juice, or sports drinks, make sure to take a sip or two whenever you feel thirsty. Even if you’re not feeling totally parched, mild thirst is still a sign of impending dehydration.

Keep dry mouth at bay.
One of the first signs of dehydration is dry mouth. If your mouth starts feeling like the Sahara, head to the water fountain (or take a sip from your reusable water bottle!). A short water break between sets or during quick breaks from cardio can help stave off exercise-induced dehydration.

Stop if you get the dizzies.
Feeling lightheaded during a workout is a sign of dehydration and a signal to tone it down a notch. Though willpower sometimes makes us want to push ourselves through a few more reps or another mile, feeling dizzy is an indicator that it’s time to hydrate. Due to the decreased plasma volume with dehydration during exercise. When there’s not enough water in blood, both blood volume and blood pressure drop, resulting in dizziness.

So, keep tips in mind before today or tomorrow workout and keep it up.

Make Your Own Detox Drink

Watermelon/cucumber, lemon/lime, mint leaves, and water.

Watermelon (or cucumber): Watermelon helps the body flush out toxins because it contains the organic compound citrulline, which is an amino acid that has been shown to help the liver and kidneys filter and get rid of ammonia.

Water: H2O is just plain good for us, but it’s thought that it helps flush nasty toxins and waste through our system, giving organs like the liver and kidney an easier time doing their job.

Lemon (or lime): Lemon or lime juice helps stimulate and regulate the digestive track (which is why it’s so helpful with constipation, heartburn and gas), stimulates bile production, and thins out bile, which allows it to flow more freely.

Mint leaves: Mint leaves are a nice refreshing flavor to add to your drink. On top of that, it can help you digest more effectively, improving the flow of bile from the liver, to the gallbladder, to the small intestine, where it breaks down dietary fats. Mint also helps relax cramped up stomach muscles.

Health Benefits of Yerba Mate Tea

South American beverage made by steeping the ground leaves and stems of the yerba mate plant. Yerba mate is a central nervous system stimulant containing caffeine, but it also contains a number of other nutrients, including antioxidants, amino acids, polyphenols, vitamins and minerals.

Yerba mate tea is very high in antioxidants; it's got about 90% more antioxidants than green tea. Yerba mate has significant immune boosting properties. Proponents of yerba mate tea say that the minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, animo acids and polphenols found in this beverage have a balancing effect on the caffeine it contains. Users report increased mental energy, clarity and focus, but they also say that yerba mate doesn't cause any of the uncomfortable side effects associated with drinking caffeinated beverages, such as headaches, stomachaches and jitters, ids digestion by stimulating increased production of bile and other gastric acids. Yerba mate helps keep your colon clean for effective and efficient waste elimination, and helps reduce the stomach bacteria that can contribute to bad breath. The antioxidants and amino acids present in yerba mate help fat and cholesterol move through your bloodstream so that they don't accumulate on artery walls. Yerba mate also helps prevent arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and prevents blood clots that may cause heart attack or stroke.

Drinks That Lower Blood Pressure

1. Beet juice

How it works: Beets are a good source of potassium -- and a good source of folate, both of which are important in regulating blood pressure. What's more, beets contain nitrate, which is converted into nitrites once ingested. Nitrites relax smooth muscle tissue and increase blood flow. Finally, beets support healthy blood vessel function and battle homocysteine, which can damage blood vessels.

2. Hibiscus tea

How it works: Like pomegranate juice, hibiscus contains bioactive phytochemicals that act as a natural ACE inhibitor. One study showed that hibiscus tea was as effective at lowering blood pressure as captopril, a prescription ACE inhibitor used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure.

3. Cranberry juice

How it works: Cranberries and cranberry juice have powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help prevent and reduce damage inside the blood vessels, thereby preventing an undesirable increase in blood pressure. In addition, cranberry juice may help reduce blood pressure by dilating blood vessels and increasing blood flow. Finally, cranberries are an excellent source of blood-pressure-lowering vitamin C.

4. Water

How it works: Drinking adequate amounts of water is, quite simply, one of the healthiest, cheapest, and most effective ways that you can help lower your blood pressure. Chronic dehydration causes blood vessels to constrict, which helps the body conserve water by reducing water loss through perspiration, urination, and respiration. Unfortunately, constricted blood vessels require your heart to work harder, resulting in a spike in blood pressure. If you fin it hard to drink your 8-8, try

11 Reasons Why Dehydration Is Making You Fat ...

Fatigue

Water is the most vital sources of energy in the body. dehydration causes the enzymatic activity in the body to slow down, resulting in tiredness and fatigue.

Asthma and Allergies

When dehydrated, your body will restrict airways as a means to conserve water. In fact, the rate of histamine produced by the body increases exponentially as the body loses more water.

High Blood Pressure

The blood is normally about 92% water when the body is fully hydrated. When dehydrated, the blood becomes thicker causing resistance to blood flow, which results in elevated blood pressure.

High Cholesterol

When the body is dehydrated, it will produce more cholesterol to prevent water loss from the cells.

Skin disorders

Dehydration impairs the elimination of toxins through the skin and makes it more vulnerable to all types of skin disorders, including dermatitis and psoriasis, as well as premature wrinkling and discoloration.

Digestive Disorders

A shortage of water and alkaline minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, can lead to a number of digestive disorders, including ulcers, gastritis and acid reflux

Bladder or Kidney Problems

With a dehydrated body, the accumulation of toxins and acid waste creates an environment where bacteria thrive, resulting in the bladder and kidney to be more prone to infection, inflammation and pain.

Constipation

When short of water, the colon is one of the primary regions the body draws water from in order to provide fluids for other critical body functions. Without adequate water, wastes move through the large intestines much more slowly or sometimes not at all, resulting in constipation.

Joint Pain or Stiffness

All joints have cartilage padding which is composed mainly of water. When the body is dehydrated, cartilage is weakened and joint repair is slow resulting in pain and discomfort.

Weight Gain

When dehydrated, cells are depleted of energy. As a result people tend to eat more when, in reality, the body is thirsty.

Premature Aging

When chronically dehydrated, the body's organs, including its largest organ, the skin, begins to wrinkle and wither prematurely.
