Dr. Oz: Boost Your Energy in 7 Days !

Step 1: Eat Alkaline Foods to Boost Your Energy Through Your Kidneys
Alkaline foods, such as fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and grains flow through your system more quickly and easily than nonalkaline foods, which include processed foods, meat and dairy. The nonalkaline foods you eat promote acid in your body that the kidneys have to work hard to get rid of.
Step 2: Use Sprouts to Boost Vitamins and Minerals in Your Body
Step 3: Load Up on Energy Fats to Boost Brain Power
Fats make up the majority of our cell membranes–including our brain. You need to feed the brain cells the right fats to help keep you sharp and mentally energized, and to protect the brain from toxins.
Step 4: Eat at Least Half Your Plate Raw to Energize the Gut
This doesn’t mean you should eat raw meat, but vegetables, fruits and seeds are best eaten raw, because when cooked, they lose a lot of their enzymes that we need for healthy digestion, a process that uses a lot of energy.
Step 5: Drink Lukewarm Lemon Water at Every Meal to Wake Up Your Organs
Drink a glass of lukewarm water with lemon first thing in the morning and then again at every meal. This combination wakes up your liver and gallbladder to flush toxins out of them, and gets your whole intestinal track moving.
Step 6: Do an Energy Move to Boost Circulation
Try Elkaim's favorite move, the jump and pump to increase blood flow and circulation by pumping energy through your body. To do this move, start in a sitting position, then jump and throw your fist in the air.

Benefits of Cucumber Juice !

Digestion and Anti-Cancer

If you are eating this vegetable (skins and all) you will get the benefits of both soluble and insoluble fiber. By juicing you will still consume the soluble fiber which helps nutrients get absorbed through the intestinal tract.
Cucumbers contain plant lignans which bind with bacteria in the digestive tract and convert them to enterolignans for both pro and anti-estrogenic effects. According to The World’s Healthiest Foods, “Reduced risk of estrogen-related cancers, including cancers of the breast, ovary, uterus, and prostate has been associated with intake of dietary lignans from plant foods like cucumber.”
Cucumbers are a rich source of cucurbitacins which blocks cancer cell development according to scientists and we can expect to see more research on the connections between cucumbers and anti-cancer benefits.

Skin, Hair, and Nails

Cucumber is a powerful tonic for the skin, hair, and nails. Many women know the beauty trick of applying cucumber slices to the eyes for reducing puffiness. The astringent properties in cucumbers draw out dirt and cleanse the pores, making it a popular ingredient in oily skin or acne skin care.
Cucumbers also contain silica, a trace mineral which contributes to strengthening connective tissues. This results in stronger hair and nails.
You can get these benefits both by putting cucumber juice on your skin as well as by drinking it.

Weight Loss and Inflammation

Because cucumbers contain mostly water they are and excellent food to help cleanse and wash away toxins. Toxins are often stored in fat cells and cause inflammation. But beyond just water content cucumbers also supply electrolytes to restore hydration of the body cells and balance the fluid levels in the body.  This makes cucumber an important food to aid in weight loss and other inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

Alkaline water !

Clean, pure water is a cornerstone of good health. Your body is mostly water, so the ongoing intake of water is essential to your every function.
- Dr. Mercola
h2o
The number one source of calories in the U.S. comes from high fructose corn syrup primarily in the form of soda. Americans drink an average of one gallon of soda each week, and this excessive fructose consumption is a driving force behind obesity and chronic degenerative disease in this country.
The most practical and economical strategy to combat obesity and chronic disease is to replace all sodas and other sweet beverages with pure water. Beyond water filtration, there’s also the issue of pH - alkaline versus acidic water. There are quite a few astonishing health claims being made about alkaline water, but are they true?

Alkaline water

Water that has been separated into alkaline and acid fractions using electrolysis, which takes advantage of the naturally occurring electric charges found in the magnesium and calcium ions; in the drinking water industry.

There has been a great deal of debate about battling cancer by making your body alkaline. This has become a focus of interest as cancer rates have skyrocketed. The scientific research about the benefits of Alkaline Water it's still not conclusive but here are the points of their studies:
  • Normal cells die under extremely alkaline conditions. A study published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry found that alkalosis (rising cellular pH) causes alkaline-induced cell death as a result of altering mitochondrial function.
  • Another study out of Cornell University states that antioxidants have not proven to be effective against many neurodegenerative diseases, and they state it may be a result of how the mitochondria operate within the cell in certain pH conditions.
Here are the benefits of Alkaline Water:

1. DETOXIFY

Detoxify your body to remove normal acidic waste products accumulated daily, plus remove toxins accumulated in your body from your environment, prescription drugs, unnatural foods and from the “normal” process of aging.

2. HYDRATE

Hydrate your body: this is basic to maintain or regain optimum health.

3. OXYGENATE / ANTIOXIDANTS

Alkaline water acts as an antioxidant, scavenging for and neutralizing harmful free radicals. Because alkaline water has the ability to give up electrons, it can effectively neutralize and block free-radical damage to the body.

4. ALKALIZE YOUR BODY’S pH

Alkaline water helps balance the body’s pH, which tends to be acidic because of our high acid food diet, stress and exposure to environmental toxins such as smog.

5. ENHANCE YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

Enhance your immune system to maximize your body’s ability to fight off disease and heal itself.
Try this water on you Infuser Water Bottle, also add fruit to it in order for you to make some Fruity Flavored Drinks !

Simple Ways to Eat Healthy on a Budget ...

Unfortunately, the rising food prices make it hard to eat healthy. Your paycheck is most likely not rising as fast. Worst case you’re student which makes it even harder. These 10 tips will help you eat healthy on a budget.

1. Buy Whole Foods. Unprocessed foods are cheaper and more nutritious than processed foods. They also give you total control over the ingredients. Avoid anything that comes from a box 90% of the time.

 2. Buy Cheap Proteins. You need 1g protein per pound of body-weight per day to build and maintain muscle. Eating whole protein with each meal also helps fat loss as protein has a higher thermic effect than other foods. Keep the steaks & salmon for special occasions. Buy eggs, milk, whey, mackerel, tuna, calves liver, frozen chicken breast, cottage cheese, …

3. Buy Generic Food. And store brands. Raw foods like rice, pasta, eggs, milk, cottage cheese, frozen fruits/veggies, …

4. Buy Supplements. They’re cheap and make your life easier, however whole food is better. You can use supplements, but make sure the bulk of your diet consists of whole, unprocessed foods.

5. Buy in Bulk. Especially when you have promos running. Foods like pasta, rice and oats are easy to stockpile. If they’re on sale, buy as much as you can afford & store to last you until the next sale.

6. Buy In Season Fruits & Veggies. Food grown in season tastes better and is cheaper. Root vegetables in the Winter. Apples & squash in the Fall. Broccoli & berries in the Summer. To know the season of veggies and fruits check this article: Fruits & Veggies: When are they in season ?

How Do Minerals in Drinking Water Affect Your Health?

Even the modest amounts of minerals found in regular drinking water play a beneficial role in your health.

Calcium and magnesium are important for strong bones, of course. Magnesium also helps to regulate your blood pressure. In fact, people who live in areas with very soft water (which is low in minerals) may have a higher risk of heart disease.

Ironically, the same thing can be true if you live in an area with very hard water.
All those minerals can be rough on the plumbing, so people who have hard water often use a water-softening system to remove minerals.

Hydration during breastfeeding

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding may be at greater risk of developing dehydration particularly during early pregnancy if vomiting or diarrhea is present.

During pregnancy, the hydration needs will change and the child’s health depends on the mother. Water flushes waste products from the cells and aids in liver and kidney function for both mom and the baby.

During pregnancy, water is also needed for the body’s expansion as mom’s blood volume increases significantly. Insufficient fluid intake can be a factor in constipation, preterm labor, and even slight dehydration can cause or contribute to fatigue.

It’s best for lactating mothers to drink mostly water. If you want more variety, flavor the water with a squeeze of lemon or lime or a bit of your favorite juice. Fruit infused water however is a great way to avoid drinking only pure-water. Fruit  servings should be high in vitamin C and folic acid, and one in vitamin A, which is way I recommend these fruits:
Papaya, Oranges, Grapefruit, Strawberries, Raspberries.

You may combine Oranges and Grapefruit on an infused water bottle and stay hydrated all day long.
