Fruit Infused Recipe:

ORANGE + GRAPEFRUIT + LEMON + CUCUMBER
+ MINT + BLUEBERRIES

This combination has got to be my favorite, with the strong dose of citrus being balanced out by the cool tones of the cucumber and mint !

The more consumption of this fruity water, will help reduce the starches and sweets in the system. If you have a tendency towards diabetes, consume more of this Fruit Infused Water  to prevent it.

Great Foods: Leafy Greens.

Leafy Greens

Not only are leafy greens a great way to add volume to your meals without the calories, but they are chock full of nutrients, they have vitamins A, C, K, folate, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber, and are also easy to incorporate into your day.

Some of the Leafy Greens are:
  • Kale
  • Collards
  • Turnip Greens
  • Swiss Chard
  • Spinach
  • Mustard Greens
  • Broccoli
  • Red and Green Leaf and Romaine Lettuce
  • Cabbage
  • Iceberg Lettuce

Leafy vegetables are ideal for weight management as they are typically low in calories. They are useful in reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease since they are low in fat, high in dietary fiber, and rich in folic acid, vitamin C, potassium and magnesium, as well as containing a host of phytochemicals, such as lutein, beta-cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin, and beta-carotene.
A great thing is that you can intake them in juices, lunch, dinner and even to add them to your Infuser Water Bottle and enjoy a great healthy taste.

How to Eat Yucca Fruit ...

1
Look for yucca plants which are budding, blooming, or fruiting.

  1. 2
Collect the flower petals. This is the most nondestructive way to eat the yucca because the center of the flower can then continue maturing to become the fruit.
  2. 3
Eat the petals, buds, or flowers directly from the field, or in a salad (the flowers have a clean, mild taste somewhat reminiscent of snow peas), or cooked into a soup or stew.
  3. 4
Yucca flowers and fruits about to be made into a soup
Harvest the fruits one to three weeks after the plants flower. Just reach up and pull or cut them off. Leave those that would require a ladder to the insects -- it's not worth the risk to life and limb to use a stepladder on desert sands. The longer you wait, the less bitter they will be, but if you wait too long the seeds will dry and become hard, and the seedpods will start to crack open. The photo shows flowers and fruits about to be made into a soup (there's some Anaheim pepper in the pot also). The cut fruits look a lot like okra, but actually have more of a consistency like potatoes when cooked.

Try adding this fruit to you water in your Infuser Water Bottle, that way you can make another recipe for Fruity Flavored Drinks !

Health Benefits of Oranges !

1. Helps Prevent CancerOranges are rich in citrus limonoids, proven to help fight a number of varieties of cancer including that of the skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon.

2.
Prevents Kidney Diseases
Drinking orange juice regularly prevents kidney diseases and reduces the risk of kidney stones.
Note: drink juice in moderate amounts. The high sugar content of fruit juices can cause tooth decay and the high acid content can wear away enamel if consumed in excess.

3.
Reduces Risk of Liver Cancer
According to two studies in Japan eating mandarin oranges reduces liver cancer. This may be due in part to vitamin A compounds known as carotenoids.

4. Lowers CholesterolSince they’re full of soluble fiber, oranges are helpful in lowering cholesterol.
5. Boosts Heart HealthOranges are full of potassium, an electrolyte mineral is responsible for helping the heart function well. When potassium levels get too low, you may develop an abnormal heart rhythm, known as an arrhythmia.
6. Lowers Risk of Disease
Oranges are full of vitamin C which protects cells by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals cause chronic diseases, like cancer and heart disease.

Try adding oranges to your Infuser Water Bottle, try making Fruity Flavored Water.

Simple Ways to Eat Healthy on a Budget ...

Unfortunately, the rising food prices make it hard to eat healthy. Your paycheck is most likely not rising as fast. Worst case you’re student which makes it even harder. These 10 tips will help you eat healthy on a budget.

1. Buy Whole Foods. Unprocessed foods are cheaper and more nutritious than processed foods. They also give you total control over the ingredients. Avoid anything that comes from a box 90% of the time.

 2. Buy Cheap Proteins. You need 1g protein per pound of body-weight per day to build and maintain muscle. Eating whole protein with each meal also helps fat loss as protein has a higher thermic effect than other foods. Keep the steaks & salmon for special occasions. Buy eggs, milk, whey, mackerel, tuna, calves liver, frozen chicken breast, cottage cheese, …

3. Buy Generic Food. And store brands. Raw foods like rice, pasta, eggs, milk, cottage cheese, frozen fruits/veggies, …

4. Buy Supplements. They’re cheap and make your life easier, however whole food is better. You can use supplements, but make sure the bulk of your diet consists of whole, unprocessed foods.

5. Buy in Bulk. Especially when you have promos running. Foods like pasta, rice and oats are easy to stockpile. If they’re on sale, buy as much as you can afford & store to last you until the next sale.

6. Buy In Season Fruits & Veggies. Food grown in season tastes better and is cheaper. Root vegetables in the Winter. Apples & squash in the Fall. Broccoli & berries in the Summer. To know the season of veggies and fruits check this article: Fruits & Veggies: When are they in season ?

Tips To Survive When You’re Sleepy at Work ! Easy as 1,2,3 ...

1. Get moving

Do some stretches or walk around. Stay away from your computer for a while. If you work from home, it’s nice to get out of your home office and breath some fresh air. Then come back again when you feel rejuvenated. You can also do some stretches. This way, you’re waking up your body and it gets you ready for the tasks ahead.
Sitting all day is not healthy and encourages drowsiness. If you’re not used to physical exercises, small movements or stretches can give you an energy boost.

2. Watch what you eat

There are some foods that help you sleep. Be wary of the times you eat these. Also, don’t overeat during lunch as this tends to make you feel sleepy after lunch. Finish your meal as soon as you feel satisfied. Eating until you’re fully stuffed is not only unhealthy but it induces sleepiness.

3. Toothpaste with peppermint

Brush your teeth with peppermint toothpaste. Peppermint is a natural stimulant which makes you stay alert.

Benefits of Honey Water !

The sugar in honey is a natural sugar, which provides a healthy source of calories. Not only that, it can help to ward off any sugary sweet beverage cravings you may have.

Drinking a warm glass of water with honey first thing in the morning helps to improve your digestive system. The antiseptic benefits of honey help relieve the acidity in your stomach while increasing the production of intestinal mucus. By using raw, local honey you help to acclimate your body to the pollens of your area.

Move over coffee  – honey and warm water are the new dream team for boosting energy.  The benefit to your energy levels by staying hydrated has all but been shouted from a rooftop, hot water with honey can help reduce the soreness and irritation of a sore throat.

5 Essential Steps To Reduce Your Anxiety

1. Eliminate or reduce your coffee consumption.
I know, it sucks! And many of you don’t like hearing it, but coffee was the number one thing that exacerbated my feelings of anxiety and worry on a daily basis. Reducing my coffee intake to one cup per day or none at all has helped me enormously in feeling calmer, more relaxed, and less antsy and wired. If you like having something warm, try herbal teas.
2. Avoid (excess) sugar and refined, empty carbs.
Sugar and "white carbs" can put you on a constant blood sugar roller coaster. You experience temporary relief, or a “high,” followed by an irritable and anxious low. Sugar is highly addictive, and it can be hard to ditch your sugar habits. However, balancing your blood sugar is key in order to maintain a calm, even, and resilient mindset.
3. Stop comparing yourself to others.
Chronically comparing yourself to other people will keep you from ever feeling good about yourself. What you see on the outside is very misleading and doesn’t accurately reflect other people’s real lives and emotional well-being. Self-comparison is based on comparing your own reality with the idealized illusions you form about someone else’s life. It’s not a fair comparison and won’t lead you to happiness or better decision-making. It’s also easy to slip into victimizing yourself and believing you've been dealt bad cards, which is simply not true and actually brings you further away from feeling empowered to create a life you love. Focus on yourself, your own process, and what feels right for you.
4. Re-evaluate your expectations.
Are you really not worth anything because your thighs touch and your stomach isn’t flat? Are you really a failure because you didn’t get that one job two years ago? Do you really not deserve the attention of someone amazing and caring? Telling yourself that you're only worthy if you're perfect creates expectations that you will never be able to meet. You will chronically feel behind, “not ready,” or not good enough. Nothing creates more anxiety than the feeling that what you really desire is out of your reach.
5. Practice mindfulness.
Mindfulness is based on the art of perceiving and simply experiencing instead of on passing judgment. Being aware of your thoughts and feelings as they are true for you requires both practice and patience. The truth is that most of us aren’t very in tune with what’s going on for us, because our attention is constantly focused on external perceptions.
