Autumn, stay Hydrated

Well, summer is almost over and weather is easy to remember to stay hydrated during this hot season, we must not forget to stay hydrated during the Autumn too. We will still need our 8 cups of refreshing water every day. Here are some refreshing ways to stay hydrated during this Autumn and keep your brain focus on class.

As we have discussed before, disposable water bottles are not environment friendly so they are a terrible decision, long term speaking, to drink the water you need every week.

Recommendation: Get your own non-disposable water bottle and take it where you need to.
For people that doesn't like the taste of pure water, there's a great way to add flavor to the water, without using sugar. Using Infuser water bottles is an easy way to add the natural flavor to your beverage, you can do it daily without any additional effort and stay healthy, just put the fruit in the basket and add water.

What's so bad about disposable water bottles

“Reuse of plastic water bottles can lead to bacterial contamination unless washed regularly,” which entails washing the bottle with mild soap, rinsing it well (but not with extremely hot water) and making sure there is no “physical breakdown prior to use”.

In a 2002 study, were took 76 samples of water from water bottles of elementary school students; some of the bottles were reused for months on end without being washed. They found that nearly two-thirds of the samples had bacterial levels that exceeded that of drinking water guidelines

In addition to this there are other concerns, such as:

  • Making bottles to meet America’s demand for bottled water uses more than 17 million barrels of oil annually, enough to fuel 1.3 million cars for a year. And that’s not even including the oil used for transportation.
  • The recommended eight glasses of water a day, at U.S. tap rates equals about $.49 per year; that same amount of bottled water is about $1,400.
  • One water pitcher filter can effectively replace as much as 300 standard 16.9-ounce bottles. So you can get great-tasting water without so much waste. Talk about refreshing.
  • In the United States, 24 percent of bottled water sold is either Pepsi’s Aquafina (13 percent of the market) or Coke’s Dasani (11 percent of the market). Both brands are bottled, purified municipal water.
  • In the U.S., public water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which requires multiple daily tests for bacteria and makes results available to the public. The Food and Drug Administration, which regulates bottled water, only requires weekly testing and does not share its findings with the EPA or the public.

Hydration during breastfeeding

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding may be at greater risk of developing dehydration particularly during early pregnancy if vomiting or diarrhea is present.

During pregnancy, the hydration needs will change and the child’s health depends on the mother. Water flushes waste products from the cells and aids in liver and kidney function for both mom and the baby.

During pregnancy, water is also needed for the body’s expansion as mom’s blood volume increases significantly. Insufficient fluid intake can be a factor in constipation, preterm labor, and even slight dehydration can cause or contribute to fatigue.

It’s best for lactating mothers to drink mostly water. If you want more variety, flavor the water with a squeeze of lemon or lime or a bit of your favorite juice. Fruit infused water however is a great way to avoid drinking only pure-water. Fruit  servings should be high in vitamin C and folic acid, and one in vitamin A, which is way I recommend these fruits:
Papaya, Oranges, Grapefruit, Strawberries, Raspberries.

You may combine Oranges and Grapefruit on an infused water bottle and stay hydrated all day long.
