Top 10 Reasons To Detox (When You Do It Right)

1. Remove toxins from the body.

Long-term exposure to toxins (environmental pollutants, cancer-causing chemicals, preservatives, pesticides, heavy metals, and industrial waste) affects our metabolism, behavior, immune system, and leads to disease. They are stored in tissues and cells throughout the body, including the brain, often for years – yikes!
2. Prevent chronic disease.

Environmental toxins are responsible for many cancers, neurological diseases, heart disease, strokes... you name it. Our bodies do have a built-in detox function to deal with these dangers, but those systems are constantly overloaded! Detoxing assists and improves what our bodies are trying to do naturally.
3. Enhance immune system function.

A compromised immune system makes us vulnerable to colds and flus, affecting our quality of life and productivity. Regular detoxing helps strengthen immune system functioning and fights off infection.
4. Lose weight.

Toxins affect the body's natural ability to burn fat, leading to weight gain. Diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure are directly linked to weight issues. Detoxing rids the body of toxins stored in fat cells and increases metabolism.
5. Slow premature aging.

Detoxing rids the body of free radicals and heavy metals partially responsible for aging. Detoxing helps to increase nutrient absorption, including antioxidants and vitamins that help fight oxidative stress.
6. Improve quality of life.

Simply put, our bodies don't function very well when they're loaded with toxins. We may have joint pain, headaches, digestive disorders, sleep problems, and lack of energy. Depression may be eased and memory may be improved as a result of detoxification!
7. Increase energy.

You will have more mental, physical, and emotional energy after detoxing. People tend to sleep better and need less of it.

8. Improve skin quality.

Diet and environmental toxins undeniably affect skin. Detoxing improves acne, and strengthens hair and nails, and gives us a natural, healthy glow.
9. Mental and emotional clarity.

When the body's systems are aligned, a shift also occurs with our mental and emotional states. We can deal with more when we're clear and grounded. We can make better decisions, analyze accurately, and see things differently.
10. Restore balance to our body's systems.

Our digestive, nervous, and hormonal systems were designed to work together to achieve optimum health. This is what our bodies want to do! When we overload them with toxins and unhealthy foods, these systems don't work as well as they should and we get sick.

Detoxing brings balance back and helps our systems function properly again.

Amazing Uses for Lemons:

Produce Preserver

Make your fruit and vegetable slices last longer by coating them with lemon juice. The citric acid will help keep them from browning. Give it a try today by coating some apples slices or spritzing it on a batch of guacamole.

All-Purpose Cleaner
Replace harsh, chemical-filled cleaners with a natural, lemon-based one. For mirrors, windows, and countertops, mix lemon juice and water in a spray bottle. Brighten your whites without bleach by adding a cup of lemon juice to your laundry. Rub a lemon directly on grimy faucets and shower handles to remove soap scum while polishing chromes and other metals. You can even remove carpet stains with a lemon juice and salt scrub!

Teeth Whitening Treatment

Get sparkling white teeth with a simple combination of lemon juice and baking soda. In a small bowl, mix the lemon juice and baking soda until it bubbles. Using a cotton swab, apply the mixture to your teeth and let sit for a minute before brushing off gently. This is a cost-effective way to get the smile you want without paying for expensive whitening treatments. However, it’s important to follow the instructions exactly because citric acid can erode tooth enamel if it’s left on your teeth for more than a minute.

13 Easy Ways To Drink More Water Every Day

1. Set a specific goal for the day.

You can start by counting how many water you consume a day and set yourself a goal of the water you should be drinking.

2. Invest in a water bottle that you’ll actually use — and keep it close.

Make fun out of your water and buy a bottle you like, an Infuser Water Bottle for example, Hi-drate H2O Infuser Water Bottle is $20.99 available at Amazon.

3. Deadlines on a bottle.

An easy way to keep the goals, you can draw a line on the bottle with the hours of when you will drink water from your bottle.

I made this chart for my water bottle for at work. I have around one inch for every hour. (With a bit more for the noon hour for lunch) It helps remind me to drink my bottle by the end of the work day. I have to make sure th line is met by the end of the hour. I laminated it with packing tape and it is kept on the bottle by a black rubber band.

4. Use an app to track your progress.

Free apps like Waterlogged and Daily Water help track, store, and analyze your water consumption.

Great app to help remind you to drink more water every day in 2014 - and it's FREE!

5. Infuse your water with fruits, vegetables, or herbs.

Add flavor to your water with your favorite fruits, veggies or herbs like mint.

6. Get motivated

Motivate and inspire yourself to drink water by reading the benefits of it, blogs, or videos to stay hydrated.

7. Squeeze a drink into the daily routines you already have.

After your brush your teeth in the morning, or right before you eat lunch try drinking a glass full of water, this way you will just add more water drinking to your habits.

8. Use a straw.

You’ll drink more, and you’ll drink faster.

Many parents feel completely safe with their kids using GlassDharma glass straws!

9. Make a water wager.

Wrangle up friends or co-workers to join you — for example: make it a goal to drink at least five glasses during the workday — then set up shared calendar reminders to make sure you’re all on track.

12. Cut juice with sparkling water.

Spike them with sparkling water. Think of it as a makeshift alternative to soda — and a quick way to hydrate and satisfy your sweet tooth.

13. Switch things up with other H20-based beverages.

Like hot tea or unsweetened iced tea.
